Physiotherapy Scarborough - West Hill / Morningside
Maximize Your Mobility. Physiotherapy in Scarborough.
You shouldn’t have to live with pain that stops you from doing the things you love. Whether it’s a stiff back from sitting at your desk all week, a knee that flares up every time you take the stairs, or a nagging shoulder injury that just won’t quit, we get it. That’s exactly why we’re here.
At MaxMobility Physio & Wellness, we’re a physiotherapy clinic in Scarborough’s West Hill neighbourhood, right at 255 Morningside Ave (inside MCI The Doctor’s Office at Morningside Crossing, near Lawrence Ave East). Our lead physiotherapist, Raymond Chan, has spent over 15 years helping people in this community get back on their feet, literally. He grew up in this area, and after years of working in hospital and sports medicine settings across Toronto, he came back home to open a clinic where his neighbours could get the same quality of care you’d find downtown.
We keep things simple here. You don’t need a doctor’s referral to book. We offer direct billing to most insurance plans. And every treatment session is one-on-one with your therapist, no being shuffled between three different patients at once.
What Patients Are Saying About Us
We’ve earned dozens of 5-star reviews on Google, and honestly, they tell the story better than we ever could. Patients come to us with back pain, knee injuries, post-surgical stiffness, car accident injuries, and they leave feeling like themselves again.
Your Scarborough Physiotherapy Team
Our clinic runs on collaboration. We’re a small team on purpose, it means you actually get to know your therapist, and your therapist gets to know you. We meet regularly to talk through treatment strategies and share notes, so your care is never siloed.
Why Scarborough Patients Choose MaxMobility
Look, there are a lot of physio clinics in Scarborough. So why come to us?
One-on-one treatment
When you book a session at MaxMobility, you get your therapist’s full attention for the entire appointment. No being passed off to an assistant. No sharing your timeslot with other patients. Just focused, hands-on care.
Hands-on manual therapy that actually works
Our physiotherapists are trained in manual therapy techniques, joint mobilizations, soft tissue work, and hands-on treatment that addresses pain at the source. We combine that with targeted exercise programs you can actually do at home.
We explain what we're doing and why
A lot of patients tell us they’ve been to other clinics where they were handed a sheet of exercises and sent on their way. That’s not how we work. We take the time to explain your condition, walk you through your treatment plan, and make sure you understand every exercise before you leave.
Direct billing and no referral needed
You can book a physiotherapy appointment at MaxMobility without a doctor’s referral. And we bill most insurance plans directly, so you’re not stuck chasing reimbursements.
Convenient location in West Hill
We’re at 255 Morningside Ave, inside MCI The Doctor’s Office at Morningside Crossing, right near the corner of Morningside and Lawrence Ave East. Easy to get to from anywhere in Scarborough, whether you’re coming from Highland Creek, Morningside Heights, Guildwood, or further afield. There’s plenty of parking, and we’re close to TTC bus routes along Lawrence and Morningside.

Conditions We Treat at Our Scarborough Physiotherapy Clinic
Our physiotherapists have deep clinical experience treating a wide range of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. Here are some of the most common reasons people come to see us:
This is far and away the most common thing we treat. Whether your pain started after lifting something heavy, sitting at a desk for years, or seemingly out of nowhere, we’ll assess the root cause, disc issues, muscle imbalances, nerve irritation, joint restrictions, and build a rehab plan that actually addresses it.
Stiff neck, shooting pain down your arm, tension headaches that won’t go away. A lot of this comes from posture, repetitive strain, or degenerative changes in the cervical spine. Manual therapy and targeted exercises can make a real difference.
Arthritis doesn’t mean you have to stop moving. In fact, the right kind of movement is one of the best things you can do. We focus on strengthening the muscles around your joints, improving flexibility, and reducing stiffness so you can stay active.
Total hip replacements, total knee replacements, ACL reconstructions, rotator cuff repairs, shoulder stabilization surgeries. We guide patients through every phase of recovery — from the early days of regaining range of motion to the later stages of rebuilding strength and getting back to full function.
Frozen shoulder, impingement, rotator cuff tears and tendinitis, dislocations. The shoulder is a complicated joint, and getting it right requires careful assessment and a progressive rehab approach.
Shoulder impingement syndrome occurs when tendons of the rotator cuff become compressed as they pass through the shoulder, causing pain, particularly with overhead movements. At our physiotherapy clinic in Scarborough, we treat shoulder impingement by addressing the underlying mechanical issues, reducing inflammation, and restoring optimal shoulder function.
The rotator cuff is a group of muscles and tendons that stabilize the shoulder joint and allow you to lift and rotate your arm. Rotator cuff tendinitis, tears, and post-surgical rehabilitation require specialized physiotherapy care to restore strength and prevent reinjury. At MaxMobility Physio & Wellness, our Scarborough physiotherapists have extensive experience treating both conservative and post-operative rotator cuff conditions.
Frozen shoulder, impingement, rotator cuff tears and tendinitis, dislocations. The shoulder is a complicated joint, and getting it right requires careful assessment and a progressive rehab approach.
Ankle sprains, knee ligament injuries, wrist fractures. We help with the healing process and then rebuild your strength and mobility so the injury doesn’t keep coming back.
That sharp heel pain when you first step out of bed. We treat it with a combination of manual therapy, stretching, exercise, and sometimes custom orthotics or shockwave therapy.
Overuse injury that affects the tendons on the outside of your elbow. Common in people who do repetitive gripping or lifting, not just tennis players.
Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and other vestibular disorders respond well to specialized repositioning techniques and balance retraining exercises.

About Physiotherapy in Scarborough, Ontario
Do I need a doctor's referral for physiotherapy in Scarborough?
No. In Ontario, you can see a physiotherapist without a doctor’s referral. You can call us at (416) 479-0186 or book online at any time. That said, some insurance plans do require a referral for reimbursement, so it’s worth checking with your provider.
Is physiotherapy covered by OHIP?
Physiotherapy at private clinics like MaxMobility is not covered by OHIP. However, many patients in Scarborough have coverage through their employer’s extended health benefits plan, which typically covers physiotherapy partially or fully. WSIB and auto insurance (SABS) also cover treatment for work and car accident injuries.
How much does physiotherapy cost in Scarborough?
The cost of physiotherapy varies depending on the type and length of treatment. Most patients pay little to nothing out of pocket because their insurance covers it. We offer direct billing to most insurance providers. Call us at (416) 479-0186 for details about your specific plan.
What should I bring to my first physiotherapy appointment?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows your therapist to access the area being treated (shorts for a knee injury, a tank top for a shoulder issue, etc.). If you have any imaging reports, X-rays, MRIs, ultrasounds, bring those along. Also bring your insurance card so we can verify your coverage.
How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?
It depends on your condition, how long you’ve had it, and your recovery goals. Some patients see significant improvement in 4–6 sessions. Others with more complex or chronic conditions may benefit from a longer course of treatment. Your physiotherapist will discuss a timeline with you after your initial assessment.
Do you offer direct billing for physiotherapy?
Yes. We offer direct billing to most major insurance plans. Bring your insurance information to your appointment and we’ll take care of the billing for you.
What's the difference between physiotherapy and massage therapy?
Physiotherapy focuses on restoring movement, function, and strength through assessment, manual therapy, and exercise prescription. Registered Massage Therapy targets soft tissue, muscles, tendons, fascia, to reduce tension, improve circulation, and relieve pain. At MaxMobility, our physiotherapists and RMTs work together when it makes sense for your recovery.
Are your therapists registered in Ontario?
Yes. All physiotherapists at MaxMobility are registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. Our RMT is registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. Registration means they’ve met Ontario’s education and competency requirements, they maintain their credentials annually, and they’re regulated by the province.
